Did you know that Mel Brooks shot scenes for the 1976 feature film “Silent Movie” at UCI? The all star cast included Mel Brooks, Dom DeLuise, Bernadette Peters, Paul Newman, and even a special guest appearance from the famous french mime, Marcel Marceau. A hilarious wheelchair race scene is filmed on UCI campus. The chairs fly through Aldrich park and speed by Gateway and Langson Library. If you are interested in seeing the UCI campus featured in this Mel Brooks classic, please check out “Silent Movie”.

The Arts Plaza for the Claire Trevor School of the Arts began to take shape when celebrated artist Maya Lin was first selected to transform the courtyard to a unique and compelling place. She interpreted the plaza as an environment that embraced the senses, inviting visitors to connect with their surroundings. On October 25, 2005 the Arts Plaza opened to the public as a symbol of enduring aesthetic commitment.
